Changes to the UK gambling laws coming into force next month (September) will limit the betting amounts players can wager with online slots. They are implementing this change to prevent gambling addiction which can be high with online slot games.ย

Players between the ages of 18 to 24 are specifically targeted by this change but it will also affect all online slot players in UK casinos. People between the ages of 18-24 will only be able to bet ยฃ2 per spin. Older players will be limited to ยฃ5 per spin. Currently, there are no limits to the amount that UK players can bet with online slot games.

What do you think about this? Do you think that it will help prevent gambling addiction or do you see it as an infringement of the personal rights of players? Personally, I think that ยฃ2 a spin is more than enough to bet, especially when you consider how quickly the spins end with online slots.

The UK government believe that young people aged between 18-24 are the most susceptible to gambling addiction which I think is something that most members of this forum know already. I hope that this makes a difference. This will affect all online casinos that have a UKGC license I gues.

I get where theyโ€™re coming from with these changes, especially to protect younger players. Limiting the bet amounts could help with addiction, but I can see how some might feel itโ€™s a bit restrictive. ยฃ2 per spin does seem fair though, considering how fast those spins go. 🤔ย

They might think theyโ€™re protecting us, but honestly, if someoneโ€™s gonna blow their cash, theyโ€™ll find a way, ยฃ2 limit or not. Feels more like a slap on the wrist than a real fix.

They are right from their point of view in wanting to control gambling addiction but people can just play more instead of betting more at once and well then nothing can stop them

I agree with @kayden48, sure u gave a limit but that doesn't mean they can't get more right? If someone wants to gamble away ยฃ10, they will do it anyways! Whether they do 2x5 slot of 1x10. I feel like this will worsen the addiction problem considering they will spend longer time on the game trying to make a bigger profit.

It's more than enough - I couldn't cope with the variance much higher than that!

Very well said. You got my point! Limiting the amount seems like an amateur way of trying to solve the problemย

You know that, I know that, most of us all present here knows it as well but the government doesn't and I don't think they plan on trying to get to the root cause of the problem so let's sit back and watch the drama happen.
