So I was just reading more about poker as I find it the most fascinating. Mostly reading the body language of the players and I was curious to see what's the longest a player has gone and apparently the official record is 72 hours by Larry Olmsted when he played in game of Texas Holdโ€™em poker at Foxwoods Casino Resort in Connecticut in 2004. That to me is freaking impressive! How long do you think you would last playing before crashing?ย

Average professional poker game lasts between 2 hours to 8 hours. I prefer at tops a game not to go beyond 3 hours.ย

@leo can you imagine? And that's the official record. Apparently there are other players who took longer but also had breaks in between from playing. Eg; Phil Laak who has over 120 hours under his belt. The human mind is freaking impressive! Can you imagine the endurance?? 😳

@hildaw I feel you. I think I can only be my best for about 3 hours before then crashing hard.but some people have such endurance. Others have lasted for days with small breaks in between like Phil Laak who has over 100 hours and his belt and Zach Gensler with over 120 hours.

It is amazing how long these guys will play to win a game of poker. I agree that 3 hours or so is long enough - I would start to lose interest after that unless the pot was "substantial".

@graham same here. 3 hours max and I'm good to go. Anything over that my brain will be fried and I can't focus. Some of these people are just plain impressive! Going for days! Jeez!

72 hours? Is that straight? Are there no existing rules such as a 'time limit' whenever it is your turn so that we can have consistent game time? (Sorry for asking, I don't play poker and I don't have any knowledge about the game).

@evcj_ according to this article, breaks in poker tournaments depend on the structure of each individual game. Apparently there are some that have 60-120 minutes breaks which then would make so much sense as to how anyone can remotely be able to play for that long without going crazy 🤣 But in some games the player would take about a 4 mins break to stretch and such. Eg; Phil Laak who played for over 100hours.ย

@facebook-divineflo Ohh so they have breaks, but I 1-2 hours of break is not enough when you're playing for 72 hours, I assume they have multiple breaks? But then again how about taking a bath? sleeping?

@evcj_ I think this type of records are recorded from the start to the end of the session/ attempt. What I mean to event could have started on Monday and finished on Wednesday, but this doesn't mean that they've played non stop. That's what I think.
