Why are casinos popular and why do people gravitate towards gambling hobbies? Is it personal curiousity? influence from friends? exposure from family members?
The reason that gambling is so popular around the world is the buzz. When gamblers win they experience an excitement that is so strong and they want to feel this way all the time. You have used your hard earned money and beaten the bookie or the casino - it doesn't get much better than that!
I guess that people get involved in gambling for different reasons. I was influenced heavily by my cousin and I had seen how he reacted to winning at the bookies. It could be personal curiosity for some people but I would suggest that there will be someone influencing most people to start gambling.
@heyitsky I do think the thrill of the win is what drives most people. Once you hit some large amount and know that you should have worked for set amount of time to earn this much and you did it within an hour is a feeling like no other.
Due to the thrill of luck and financial incentives also the entertainment value as well as the social interactions it provides in terms of physucal casinos, for online casinos its the convenience.
@graham True that there's always that influence at least from my anecdotal experiences, my curiosity then tipped me over the edge.
I think for some people it is personal curiosity but some look to it as a business aspect.
Casino and gambling is a rampant business because its a popular pass time. It's a choice of relaxation for some people who are able to just have fun when they have free time + they get to earn money too!
Thanks for the responses everyone on this thread. I agree with you all as well that its the thrill and the incentives of course. The adrenaline that you receive from winning is also what pushes others to continue playing because it is a unique feeling
Winning a chunk, suddenly, based on a bet; it gives adrenaline rush to the person and the person gets thrilled.
I think its cause it gives some supporters further interaction with the games…. Also winning is good for dopamine
I'am thinking that it may be because of the keen interest of people. It may also be because they are hoping to win money in the games which keeps them coming back
