They can be seen either on TV or on the Internet. Do you think they are harmful? Or can they motivate people?
How can betting adds motivate someone? This is an advertisement. Simple as that. Harmful can be almost everything; it's up to you what you do with it.
@dany If the advertising is good, even the thought of getting rich can motivate them. However, I completely agree with your last sentence.
Well gambling is a form of entertainment. If ads are made to promote getting rich... this is not ok. I've never seen this type of ads. Only the standard ads, which are completely normal.
I don't pay much attention to betting ads TBH. They were always on the TV when I lived in the UK but I cannot say that I was motivated by them to place a bet at any time. Most of the ads were promoting sportsbooks if I recall. I bet on sports quite a lot and I don't need an ad to motivate me.
On the question of can these ads be harmful then I guess the answer is yes and no. There is always going to be somebody who sees a betting ad and then goes and loses money that they cannot afford to on bets. I think for most people they are not harmful though. If I see an ad for beer or spirits I don't rush out to buy alcohol and get hopelessly drunk!
It really depends on how they're presented and whoโs watching. 🤔ย
I feel like it doesnโt affect much in all honesty.ย
We see all kinds of advertisements and most of them dont push us to buy a product recklessly or aimlessly.ย
If those ads however reach an audience who is a poor gamblerโฆ it could lead to bad decisions
Betting ads are everywhere, and yeah, they can be tempting. Just donโt let them mess with your brain and push you to gamble more than you should.
i'd say it depends on the audience... it is harmful if they cannot gamble responsibly
I have never thought too much about them really. I think since because I have always had some sort of reservation towards them. So maybe 50/50 in terms of influence.
They should be way more limited than they are now, governments should look into it because a lot of people is losing their money because of it.
There's this one radio channel in our country who keeps replaying the same betting ad everyday and basically that radio channel is very credible and popular, I've gotten so used to the ad and memorized all of the things they said so one time I decided to check it out and it definitely is legit. I would say it highly depends on the audience and culture. But I think it's a no-brainer to check & research first those betting sites or ads for their legitimacy before falling into that rabbit hole.ย
betting ads are present everywhere. Most of the time I just ignore them and go about my way. I guess it depends on the individual who comes across them? So far though it hasn't really affected me or my interests
