Some people do make a good living out of gambling as a career. The rule of thumb is to gamble that which you can afford to lose. Again, a high level of discipline is required because you know there are those days when you make a killing and wanna keep at it and then have other days when the tides are simply against you. I found this book, Gambling for a Living and the authors argue that yes, you can make a living solely from gambling as long as you know which games are beatable and develop excellent strategies to beat them.

I mean there are gamblers worth billions. So, the answer depends on how the person will manage his finances after the gains.ย

Maybe it is possible to have gambling as a full time career but I would imagine it will be difficult. Maybe if you have a lot of money already or maybe have another job also.

Yes, you can do gambling as a full time career although the risks are high. There is the potential of spiraling into an addiction, losing everything you own, and not forgetting a decline in mental health should things not workout. I think the best thing is to gradually ease into it over time.

@facebook-ryanobedencio some people can make their initial capital straight from gambling and start picking up from there but its just pure luck

I think there is a chance (a slim one) but it would be really a risky career. For starters, you need to be a very good player in a single game and you only get good if you play on a regular basis, so you need to invest time, money, and effort in order to get good. So you need to find a way to somehow manage your living expenses as well to support your gambling expenses.

@evcj_ I think it may be easier for certain events like horse racing or cock fighting

@lateathelete69 Ohh I'm going to look up some of these stories on reddits. Sounds like a good one to read about too.
