Online casinos have become very popular nowadays especially with its convenience. We know physical casinos could have you ending up in a gambling addiction ; but due to the ease and access of online casinos do you believe they pose bigger risks for gambling addiction compared to physical ones?

In my opinion, the ease of access to online casinos and their offerings makes them just as addictive as if someone were sitting there in person. In fact, since access is easy, the chance of addiction is greater.

@amyxx I agree with you but it is not just online casinos. If you are into sports betting there are plenty of online sportsbooks that will happily take your bets and encourage you to place more. I actually find visiting land-based casinos the worst of them all as there are so many temptations on offer and usually the alcohol is flowing to help you lose your money faster.

I have said it before and will say it again - you need to work on your self-discipline so that it doesn't matter where you gamble you are in control.

Yes it is a gambling addiction risk as players can easily access the websites to play

No, online casinos are far better. In land-based casinos, there are many more reasons a player can get addicted. Real-life story: A friend of mine had a crush on a croupier in a land-based casino in my hometown. He was going every single night to the casino so he can keep in touch with the croupier and eventually he became addicted to gambling because of this. That's just an example. 😀

@dany That's a great story and one that I would imagine happens more than you might think

@graham I'm sure that there are lots of similar cases around the world.

I think that physical casinos are a far bigger risk since they have a lot to offer and are more enticing in general. Being at a physical casino appeals to a lot of your senses compared to online which would make it more tempting and could just lead you to spiral if you have no restraint.

On the most part it could but I think that both online casinos and physical casinos both pose that risk. I thinkย  that ending up with a gambling addiction is a result of a string of bad decisions and not necessary the place itself of where it occurred is to blame.ย

@graham I quite agree with you on this. Self - discipline is such a big aspect when it comes to knowing how to pace yourself when playing and knowing when to step regardless of where you play. Physical casinos are incredibly stimulating too so I know you're right about that point too

@facebook-akemieiko Oh i agree with you. It is very tempting and more chances of you getting enticed by the surroundings and losing all your money at once

I do not agree with this. I think that there is no difference if physical casino or online casino. I think temptation is the same.

@heyitsky You will probably get fed up hearing me banging on about self-discipline as I have mentioned this in several posts already. But don't expect an apology from me because I feel so very strongly about it. I got myself out of a tricky gambling situation a few years ago through improving my self-discipline and I recommend that every member here does the same to avoid any addiction or other gambling related issues.
