Do casinos benefit local economies? Is the benefit worth the social impact?

Casinos can definitely boost local economies by creating jobs and attracting tourists, which helps local businesses. However, the social costs like gambling addiction and related issues are significant. It's a complex trade-off where the economic benefits might come with serious social impacts.

Casinos bring jobs and cash flow, no doubt but they also bring severe gambling addiction and financial stress, the cash is nice but it's a tricky balance

It's nuanced i guess, theu definitely help boost the economy and i feel tend to somehow promote vices as well, not everyone has sense to handle themselves and thir money 

yes of course, it creates job so it will help the economy. also the tax can help contribute to the country

Casinos does bring jobs and cash flow but you have to understand that it's only for a certain portion and the whole local economy doesn't really gets benefitted. Instead many can get gambling adduction and it can ruin many locals' lives 

Casino gives alot as well to the community job / entertainment. Sad part is if you cant control your self youll end up in a big debt. which is the locals fault.

When there's is flow of cash, every economy benefits. And, casinos do make the cash flow. So, yeah. They definitely do benefit the local economies.

Yes, some of the casinos in our country pose as tourist attractions. So the local businesses definitely benefit as the people visiting them make purchased in the local markets. 

Of course it brings a lot of positives but at the same time just like everything in this world, it also has its downsides. I think the main benefit of casinos is the money they contribute, they create job opportunities, tax contributions and attracts tourists in general. The main downside that I can think of is gambling addiction but I think there are a lot more, but gambling addiction is the obvious one.

I think casinos benefit local economies because casino and gambling is such a huge way to earn money and at the same time bring in job opportunities. I'm not sure of how much the risks outweigh the benefits when it comes to social impact though since it's sort of a conflict as well

I think it goes both ways? Casinos benefit economies because of what they can offer which is money and the job opportunities. The downside of it is that it's not enough to outwenigh the negative impacts it has on society as well such as addiction, financil struggles and such 

@kayden48 Yup, its only a portion of the economy's wealth and not the entirety or even half of it. As much as casino and gambling can bring a lot of good stuff if can harm the people just the same
