I don't have any particular experience in E-Sports betting, so I would like to know what your thoughts about E-Sport betting? I am a fan of LoL myself and I would like to start betting one day, but I stumbled upon this article wherein pro players conduct match fixing. I will be attaching the link below because it seems like attaching links on words are not working.

E-sports is great and i'm also a LoL fan myself. Fnatic is my favourite team and my bets are always on them.

I am fan of esports betting and yes there are reports of match fixing. I guess the risk is less with legit platforms

@tituskrit actually it doesnโ€™t matter if the site is legit or not. Match fixing concerns every site which accepts betting 🧐

@anton I have visited platforms which claim to have anti-fixing measures. I just dont know how credible the measures are or if they work. Anyway the thought counts sometimes 😀

My advice is to bet on the highest leagues and top 5 leagues. In the lower divisions of every sport there can be match fixing so you better focus on the major ones. @tituskrit

ESports which are the competitive side of video gaming have grown in popularity in recent years, and many are going mainstream. Just like traditional sports, fans can place bets on their favorite player, team, or game results.

Unlike traditional sports betting, fans have more chances of accurate odds and doing in-game betting. Itโ€™s a great way for gaming fans to add excitement to their watches of the game. However, since esports' main demographic is teens and young adults, they may not be aware that they are gambling since esports gambling does not look like traditional gambling. Also, many esports betting is unregulated and those under 18 can gamble on their parentsโ€™ credit card.

Going forward, it would be prudent for a comprehensive framework to be put in place for esports betting.

@dany That's cool to hear that you're an FNC fan, they won the first Worlds Tournament but they seem to fall off after that. G2 has been running the region for quite some time now.

I must admit that I have never bet on esports before. I always thought that there was something "dodgy" about it and to hear from you guys that match fixing is a possibility has definitely put me off! Nothing beats real sports betting IMO. Placing a bet on a match or a horse race before the off and then watching to see if your bet lands is still the best option for me.ย

@graham You're totally right, I was really curious when I heard it for the first time but when I researched on the pros and cons, I felt really turned off when I read that there are match fixing issues in some regions. I haven't tried placing a bet on a horse race, you have wonderful suggestions. Betting on horses feels so exciting, care to share any tips on how you select a horse that you will choose to place your bet?

Match fixing in League happens because pro gets more revenue betting against themselves and intentionally throwing games than relying solely in their contract salary and prize money, especially when they're the bottom half of the league. However, this mainly happens in minor region team, such as Vietnam where we even heard a match fixing scandal just last year, and academy leagues such as the Chinese Development League.

That said, betting on Major Region leagues, especially LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS, your bets will less likely be tampered by match fixing by pros.

@ggvermeil Yeah, the issue only happened with the VCS. I've been watching LoL since 2017 and I can vouch that there wasn't any match fixing problem in the major regions (at least I never heard one). So maybe I will try betting once, I will put my money on GenG this year, I feel like nobody can really contest them, they are looking unstoppable outside their performance in EWC. I really want Chovy to win this year.

I've never bet on esports but I do enjoy watching it. I play LOL and ML at the moment. I know there are other esports as well. Although I do want to venture into it hearing about the match fixing problems here kind of makes me feel uncertain about it. I'm willing to try it out at least once tho just for the experience.ย
