There has always been concern that Chinese nationals would use tourist visas to enter the Philippines and join the POGO market. After the nationwide POGO ban, analysts predict there will be an easing of tourist visa restrictions for Chinese tourists that will attractย 'real' Chinese tourists. Now, I'd like to know, are there Chinese in the gambling sector in your country? Are they in good standing with the community?

In my country there's isn't that much share of international tourists in the gambling scene. However, in the coming years we might see that changing, with the establishment of casinos in many more major cities.

I live in the Philippines and there are already a lot of Chinese people here even without the ban of POGOs. For the good standing, I don't they are in the good side at all, sure they bring a lot of job opportunities in the country but at the same time they have a lot of issues going on. I will be linking down below some of the recent issues about POGOs here in our country.

Not in the Philippines; there have been so many crimes and abuse lately against Filipino workers for POGO. It's all over the news; it was pretty hard to watch when they did the raid. Despite the fact that casino and gambling can boost the economy and bring about job opportunities its not worth it if people end up dying.ย

In my country, physical casinos are much lesser and in tourist spots so international tourists definitely make up a chunk of the players or visitors there. There's more casinos planning to be opened here though so let's see how it evolvesย

@hildaw Here in Bulgaria, most of the players are locals and are playing by the local gambling authorities. Not much if not any Chinese players are playing here.ย

I worked in China with Chinese people for about 5 years from 2003 and many of them are interested in gambling. A lot of Chinese will go to Macau as I guess they do not need any special visas for this. There is quite a large population of Chinese in the UK and I know that a number of them like to gamble both online and offline. I don't recall the Chinese being involved in any trouble at gambling locations - they just like to gamble!

Yeah, weโ€™ve got a good number of Chinese nationals involved in the gambling sector here. For the most part, they keep to themselves, but thereโ€™s always a bit of tension around the whole POGO thing. 🤐ย

I'm not certain about Chinese people's influence on gambling in my country Kenya but I could be wrong.

With the POGO ban, there might be a spike in genuine Chinese tourism, but gambling's still a magnet for problems. The governmentโ€™s move could bring in more legit visitors, but it doesnโ€™t magically fix the underlying mess
