@anton don't you think its like a starting point. Gambling is haram according to Islam and they are now working through it..in the past they even allowed alcohol
@tituskrit It's an open secret UAE is money laundering capital. I'll go on a limb and say issuing a lottery license is their way of easing into licensing casinos and being able to cater even more to their money laundering clients. The Emiratis are just greedy. They want gambling money despite gambling being haram in Islam.

Wow, as I have read the comments on this thread, I learned a lot. I didn't know that gambling is not allowed in UAE. Although I think they will not be allowing casinos/gambling platforms in the near future, I think they are going to be more open to the 'idea' of it.
@tituskrit I think the growth will be slow and steady. They have authorized the lottery license, I see them easing slowly into casino licenses and eventually full blown gambling. By the time it reaches there, they will have eased the resistance of the population, and people will not think much of it. Maybe the gambling will be limited to outsiders and the Emirati citizens will have some sort of restriction from participating. I can definitely see it growing into a gambling hub in a decade or two.
