The Alliance for Gambling Reformย has sent anย open letter to the Federal Government and the Opposition to ban all gambling advertising in Australia in the next three years. The letter is signed by prominent figures including former prime ministers John Howard and Malcolm Turnbull. Other signatories include prominent figures in business, sports, health, faith, and unions. What's your take on the open letter?
Let me tell you, it won't happen. Gambling, no matter how you paint it, does enrich the economy of a country. I think they should think of regulating it a bit, not too much. But banning ads is not the wisest of decisions.
Banning gambling ads could really shake things up, but it might be a good move (or really bad). Itโll be interesting to see how this plays out tho
@hildaw, in Bulgaria (my country) the government banned the casino TV commercials. I don't think it led to much of a difference.ย
i think its quite logical for a county to ban gambling ads for some sort of "protection" for their people, though i dont think it will led to much of a difference
Would this even have any effect at all? I feel like gambling is so popular and such a huge thing that people would still do it either wayย
Banning gambling ads sounds like a bold move, but itโs like putting a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. People who wanna gamble will still find their way around; itโs about more than just ads
