I stumbled upon this article online, and I find it alarming that POGOs are shifting to other fraud schemes. What are your thoughts about this?

Oh dear, this article is from the country I currently reside in and yes, I can confirm this is a huge issue here in this country. Actually, the president here has banned POGOs in this country just a few weeks ago. Although, based from what Ive heard from the people here and seen it's not really a "ban", they're just rebranding it to IGL (Internet Gaming Licensee) and basically it's all just a facade so they can continue the operations. However, the officials also say those are two different things and the illegal schemes are not part of the rebranding thing. Honestly, even I am confused at this point lol, in general though there are just so many greedy people out there and is causing troubles for money so I wouldn't be surprised if they find more ways to operate more scheming

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued a ban on all POGOs 2 weeks ago. He's given them till the end of this year to wind up all their businesses. I presume, all fraudulent activities associated with them are also being shutdown. Great news for the Philippines people

@ray Yeah, I also reside in the Philippines and I totally agree with you. Although POGOs bring job opportunities here in our country, I am still hesitant to allow them in here because of the current issues that are related to them.

@ray I'm wondering what's going to happen for all the platforms that paid for this license and it gets banned?

  • @strahil It's probably gonna cause even more problems, people suspect that most likely though most of them are just gonna go vanish or underground and continue operations. Or worse case scenario, they go and join the cybercrime groups and then totally lose control. They really need to have a better solution for this.

This sounds like a continuous that's occurring in our country. I think that POGO is shifting to other schemes and forms of scamming to try to get away with what they want just in a different way. I just wish there was a better way to control this and to just have it permanently banned. It's becoming such a nuisance at this point.

Whatโ€™s next, a romantic jackpot feature? Swipe right for love, swipe left for fraud! At this point, it feels like theyโ€™re collecting side quests in a crime RPG. 😂 Theyโ€™ve evolved from gambling to scamming, gotta give them credit for keeping things interesting.
