Who has ever betted on current events. Like whether Kanye will say something offensive in the coming week or if Trump will get better ratings within the week. I have found some sites offering such events. What's your experience with this form of gambling?

I have placed bets on current events before. These were all to do with the elections in the UK. I have had some success with this betting on marginal seats which went the opposite way of what the "experts" were predicting. It is not something that I do now TBH. It is just like placing a bet on a sporting event where you are predicting the outcome.ย

The main reason that I chose to bet on these current events before was I that the bookmakers didn't have as much knowledge about them as they should have done and therefore you could find pretty generous odds available. UK bookmakers are very good at pricing up UK football matches etc but not so good on the outcome of political battles.

I don't know if this still applies today. There must be hundreds of different bets available for Trump as he is very unpredictable at times.ย

@anton Yes they can and you can get some good wins from this. I haven't done it for a few years though so things may have changed.

@graham I think that's the point because Trump is a bit too crazy so there's thousands of possibilities to stake on

@anton I am sure the bookies can leverage it in a way that they always win. Like in all betting events

@tituskrit Yes and that means that it is likely that the bookies will price some of these events wrongly which means more potential profit for us!

@hildaw Most sites that accept sports bets will have a political section where you can bet on current events.

I don't know if you are going to consider this as betting based on current events, but during my high school years, I once bet if the new head coach of our basketball team will last more than a year, and luckily I won since he stayed up to this day. The bet is just a friendly bet between me and my close friend, he just treated me to my favorite burger place.
