Due to the harsh economic times that we have been experiencing, casinos have been hit hard and this is no different for the Last Vegas Casinos such as The Strip. According toย  this article, the reluctance by consumers when it comes to spending their money on discretionary items like amusement and gambling has negatively affected the financial performance ofย  casinos in Las Vegas. This is reflected in the 15% decline in revenue reported by Nevada Gaming Control Board as of July 2024.
It appears that the current economic times are affecting everyone including casinos.ย

Damn, even Vegas is getting humbled, maybe the Strip should switch to hosting How to Save Money seminars, might attract more people these days..

Wow even in Las Vegas. Now I am interested to know how the other casinos are doing and their earning reports. How much have they been affected and how they are still continuing their business?

@kayden48 the effects are not sparing anyone 🤣 but also players are going to play whether the economy is bad or not. I just think though that maybe many people are not playing as much. For the Last Vegas casinos, it's also because that tourist travel is low too.

Interesting because usually casinos and bookmakers thrive during hardship due to desperation. You see this in the UK where most bookmakers are located in low-income areas...

The strip has had it good for so long and I am sure most of the casino owners are very rich. It is hard to have sympathy for them TBH.

@lewisw oh. That's interesting. Could it be because hope is a potent element in gambling? You know, placing bets with the hope that the player will catch their lucky break.

@graham haha. Agreed. I wonder if they really feel the pinch though? They are already wealthy so does it even really matter? But of course we have the people that depend on their businesses and that could spell trouble for the employees.

itโ€™s wild how even the big casinos on the Strip arenโ€™t immune to the tough economy. It really shows how much people are cutting back on spending across the board.

@divine Agreed. I think rich and addicts will keep playing but a portion is definitely playing lesser due to current economic conditions
