Does anyone here has experienced crypto mining? How was the experience like? Also I will be attaching a link to my previous post related to crypto mining if anyone is interested. The post is about the effects of crypto mining in the environment.

I have tried mining before. It is very energy-intensive and the machines get really hot. I quit after I saw I could hardly break even

@tituskrit What happened to your machine? Did it break? Also what type of machine is it like an entire PC? Also I would like to know about if you know 'specific' hardware that this article is talking about. For those who don't want to read, the article mentioned this part 'You can build a computer capable of mining cryptocurrency, but you'll need specific hardware.'

I haven't tried crypto mining yet. I hope I can at least try it in the future though. I'd love to hear about the experience of the other members though. That would be insightful.ย

@evcj_ I gave it away. I used it to mine cardano but the daily output was not worth the expenses I was incurring. The hardware is basically like a gaming rig set up. Plus it emits a lot of heat so you need to install several fans to prevent your setup from blowing up.

If you are really interested in mining I would suggest you go for cloud mining

@heyitsky Try cloud mining to get the experience. Don't buy the rigs as it will really disappoint you

You mine by hiring a machine remotely..so you don't need to invest in the equipment or incur power costs.. basically it's like online mining if that makes senseย

I was involved in crypto mining for almost 6 months. Back in 2020 i bought a mining rig with 8 NVidia 1080ti GPUs. Yes, the heat is serious issue and you need fan or air conditioning during summer months. During winter is okay cause the rig works like a heater. Electricity is also big issue cause the rig consumes a lot. So basically if a man have free electricity (solar for example) and a cool place (like basement) can make decent amount of money even nowadays.
